Explosive Truck Inspection VR is a research-led training simulation that places trainees inside a full safety inspection of a Mobile Manufacturing Unit (MMU) — colloquially known as an “explosives truck” — the vehicle that mixes explosives on-site and injects them directly into blast holes at the mining face.
What trainees do:
- Move freely around the vehicle to build spatial familiarity before ever approaching the real equipment
- Work through a structured, step-by-step inspection checklist
- Examine individual components and points of interest up close
- Complete a full, end-to-end inspection sequence from start to finish
Why it matters:
Checklist items and fault conditions are randomised between sessions, so no two inspections play out the same way. Trainees build genuine fault-spotting judgement rather than memorising a fixed scenario — practising the procedural discipline required for real MMU inspections, in a safe, repeatable virtual environment.
