ECG VR Training

The ECG VR Training application is an immersive clinical simulation built for medical students at the University of Pretoria Faculty of Health Sciences. Using a Meta Quest headset and intuitive hand-tracking — no controllers — students work through a realistic ECG procedure: connecting the machine, placing limb leads, placing chest leads, and configuring the correct settings on the device.

Developed by XRi Solutions using a research-led methodology, every aspect of the application is designed around measurable learning outcomes. Students progress through each step in a safe, repeatable environment, building procedural confidence before clinical placement. The application is accompanied by a formal research study measuring its impact on student performance.

Deployed actively to 350 students yearly since 2024.
