{"id":282,"date":"2026-05-14T10:57:06","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T08:57:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xri.co.za\/xri\/?page_id=282"},"modified":"2026-05-15T14:30:17","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T12:30:17","slug":"manual-defibrilation-vr-training","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/xri.co.za\/xri\/manual-defibrilation-vr-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Manual Defibrilation VR training"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Defib VR Training<\/em> places healthcare students inside an immersive, true-to-life clinical environment where they practise the full manual defibrillation protocol from first response to shock delivery \u2014 on a Meta Quest headset, without the risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Working through eight evidence-based steps, students assess patient responsiveness, check carotid pulse and breathing, direct bystanders to begin CPR, don protective gloves, configure and charge a Philips defibrillator, prepare the paddles with conductive medium, apply them to the patient&#8217;s chest, confirm personnel are clear, and deliver the shock \u2014 all within a photorealistic hospital ward rendered in Unreal Engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every session is tracked. Step completion, sequence, and time-on-task are recorded automatically, giving clinical educators objective data on student performance that written assessments and mannequin-based simulation simply cannot provide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Developed by XRi Solutions in partnership with the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Pretoria, and accompanied by a formal research study, <em>Defib VR Training<\/em> is part of a growing portfolio of research-led XR applications built to meet the standards of academic evidence \u2014 not just the promise of technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Available on the Meta Quest platform.
